One of Anísio's greatest doings as Secretary of Health and Education was the construction of the Centro Popular de Educação Carneiro Ribeiro (Carneiro Ribeiro Education Centre), during the Otávio Mangabeira administration. The centre, located in the Liberdade district, became commonly known as the Park School. That experience helped to take his reputation beyond the national borders. The Park School, founded in 1950, aimed at offering children comprehensive education, caring for their nutrition, hygiene, socialisation, professional training and citizenship. Arts lessons were also part of the activities, many times under the tutoring of well-known artists, like Caribé and Mário Cravo.
